A journey of self discovery and initiation for women.
A revolution in feminine consciousness is leading women to question what it means to be a woman. While feminism has liberated women in many ways, women are finding that they require new models to understand their essence and diversity. This search is leading women to explore the archetype of the Goddess. Women’s Mysteries involve a reclaiming of the Goddess and a recognition that she lives with all women.
For thousands of years the Moon has been a symbol for the Goddess, woman and the feminine principle. The Moon presents us with an image of the feminine that is eternal and cyclic, celebrating the full expression of feminine potential.
These sessions will explore women’s relationship with Goddess and the Moon through the images of New Moon, Full Moon, and Dark of the Moon. Discussion, guided meditation and ritual will be used to allow women to reclaim a personal relationship with the Moon, the Goddess and the Goddess Within.
Mysteries of the New Moon
The New Moon is a time of rebirth from the darkness when life can begin anew. It corresponds with the awakening and fertility of Spring. It is the time to make a fresh start and move with the powerful new flow of energy. The Virgin Goddesses of the New Moon empower women to find their own truth and stand in their own deep, instinctual feminine wisdom. These evenings will explore:
· the imagery and symbolism of the New Moon
· the archetypes of Virgin and Warrior
· the stories of the Goddesses Athena and Artemis
Mysteries of the Full Moon
The Full Moon is the half way point in the cycle and is a time for reflection, illumination and insight. It corresponds with the warmth and high energy of Summer. The Goddesses of the Full Moon open women to the gifts and challenges of eros, love and relationship. Their stories invite us to reflect on our own patterns of relating and move beyond the pathology of patriarchal stereotypes. These evenings will explore:
· the imagery and symbolism of the Full Moon
· the archetypes of Lover, Mother and Partner
· the stories of the Goddesses Aphrodite and Demeter.
Mysteries of the Dark Moon
The dark of the Moon is the time of mystery when the Moon disappears from view. In terms of the seasonal cycle it corresponds with the time of Autumn and Winter. This is a time for introspection when the Goddess makes Her descent into the Underworld. The Dark Moon Goddess provides the key to feminine wholeness as She empowers women to reclaim the lost wisdom of the deep feminine and befriend their own dark sides and shadows. These evenings will explore:
· the imagery and symbolism of the Dark of the Moon
· the archetypes of Crone and Wisewoman
· the story of Lilith.
