I am focusing on only two of the big stories this month: the new Jupiter Saturn Cycle in Aquarius which also signals a major paradigm shift referred to as the Great Mutation as well as the Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius. As I began writing this newsletter I realized the concept and history behind the Great Mutation is too vast to discuss in detail, so I have had to be content with providing an overview.
The conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn is already forming in the sky and is visible on a clear night if you look to the west about 30 to 40 minutes after sunset. The image below [scroll down] is for December 1. By December 22 Jupiter & Saturn will appear as one: the closest conjunction [in celestial latitude as well as longitude] since 1623. Look to the west just after sunset on the 22nd to see this amazing phenomenon.

Interesting, the USA election played out exactly as the astrology suggested with Trump losing and continuing to play the role of Eris – the disruptor - a role he will no doubt continue to play in the USA over the next few years as Pluto comes up to conjunct itself in the US chart in 2022 and Eris moves to square Mercury during 2021.

Jupiter conjunct Saturn in Aquarius & the Great Mutation
December 22 AEDT sees an exact conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn that takes place at 0 degrees of Aquarius 29 minutes.
This conjunction is significant for two reasons:
The Jupiter Saturn Cycle has been referred to as the Social Master Cycle as it is a key indicator of social, cultural and economic shifts. Each 20-year cycle begins with a Jupiter Saturn conjunction, marking the beginning of a new cycle in the economic and cultural domains. While these two gaseous giants conjunct every 20 years these conjunctions form part of a larger cycle, falling in the same element [fire, earth, air or water] every 20 years for about 200 years. For the last 200 years they have met in earth signs, but their meeting [conjunction] on December 22 marks the shift to air signs and signals a major paradigm shift called the Great Mutation. This Great Mutation occurs hours after the Solstice, another marker of cycles, highlighting the importance of this shift.

Jupiter conjunct Saturn in Aquarius & the Great Mutation
December 22 AEDT sees an exact conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn that takes place at 0 degrees of Aquarius 29 minutes.
This conjunction is significant for two reasons:
- It marks a new 20 year Jupiter Saturn Cycle and seeds a mini Age of Aquarius
- It marks the shift from 200 years of Jupiter Saturn conjunctions falling in Earth signs to the beginning of 200 years of Jupiter Saturn conjunctions falling in Air signs. This is referred to as The Great Mutation and symbolizes a major global paradigm shift.

The EarthSky website tells us: 'From December 16-25, 2020, the 2 will be separated by less than a full-moon diameter, just as the moon is passing close. Don’t miss this glorious sight in the western sky after sunset! Jupiter is brighter, outshining Saturn by 12 times.'
The Earth Conjunctions over the last 200 years have symbolized a focus on earthy concerns such as:
The Air Conjunctions herald a shift in values towards the realm of Air: communications and the mind. When Saturn first entered Aquarius in March there was a massive pivot to embrace digital technology that is a hallmark of this new cycle, hence the shift to embrace the New Technology and an emphasis on:
Hence, the next 200 year cycle will carry with it some of the current challenges that we have faced during 2020 as it taps into all the big transits and the major one for 2021: Saturn square to Uranus. I will explore this in another newsletter.

The Air Conjunctions herald a shift in values towards the realm of Air: communications and the mind. When Saturn first entered Aquarius in March there was a massive pivot to embrace digital technology that is a hallmark of this new cycle, hence the shift to embrace the New Technology and an emphasis on:
- New / digital technology as the key economic and cultural driver
- Ideas [and image] may be valued more than practicality [tangible goods and services]
- Information revolution
- Freedom, liberty & equality
- GLOBALIZATION & the GLOBAL VILLAGE as ideas expand faster with the new technology.
- Conjunct Pluto in Capricorn
- Sextile the Moon & Chiron
- Square Mars and Eris in Aries
- Square Black Moon and Uranus in Taurus
Hence, the next 200 year cycle will carry with it some of the current challenges that we have faced during 2020 as it taps into all the big transits and the major one for 2021: Saturn square to Uranus. I will explore this in another newsletter.

A mini ‘Age of Aquarius’ …is also being seeded by this conjunction, which will influence us for the next 20 years. However, the Precession of the Equinoxes - which is the true marker of what astrology terms the Great Months, which are in fact 2,000 year Great Ages – informs us the Age of Aquarius is still well over 300 years away.
This mini-Age of Aquarius is emphasizing all things Aquarian which includes all the air values outlined above but also highlights:

The Aquarian challenge is to maintain our vision of truth and social justice while avoiding losing sight of the value of existing social structures and not ignoring the needs of individuals.
Total Solar Eclipse on December 15
The December New Moon on the 15th is a Total Solar Eclipse [Sun Moon conjunction] which falls close to 23 degrees of Sagittarius. It will conjunct Mercury, trine Mars and square Neptune.
Solar Eclipses are essentially turbo charged New Moons that signify potent endings and beginnings. Eclipses tend to be neutral energetically but they often bring to the surface whatever has been buried, hidden and repressed, especially regards the sign and house where the eclipse falls in the personal horoscope so any personal planet that is found close to the eclipse degree [around 23 Sagittarius], or opposite that point [around 23 Gemini], will be in the spotlight, as will the house that the eclipse falls in. Eclipses can herald a crisis, but they also provide the opportunity to wipe the slate clean and start again.
The Sun and Moon square to Neptune in Pisces in the eclipse chart suggests it may be challenging to see what is really going on, so there is plenty of potential for anxiety and [self] deception. Neptune always challenges us to surrender to feeling and listen to our intuition. If you can allow yourself not to ‘know’ the answer immediately and reframe anxiety as part of the creative process, then the outcome can be both constructive and illuminating.
Whenever Neptune is activated, I always like to remind you that Neptune is associated with Divine Love, therefore Neptune activations always challenge us to view life from a heart centred perspective, with compassion for ourselves and others. Can you surrender to your heart and allow it to communicate with you during this time?
Interesting to note that this eclipse [and the square to Neptune] is active in the chart for Donald Trump and Joe Biden. It is conjunct Trump’s Moon [and South Node] and opposite his Sun [and North Node], symbolic of his loss and confusion. Neptune is conjunct Biden’s IC while the eclipse is square to his MC/IC axis, clouding his way forward. It will be interesting to see what unfolds around this time. Neptune can suggest the need to make sacrifices.

- Change, innovation; especially regards new technology
- Urge for greater individual freedom.
- Desire for reform / social justice …Promethean archetype
- New forms of community – especially online communities
- Digital revolution changing how [and where] we live
- Greater freedom to express our individuality – including more acceptance of gender fluidity / LBGTIQ
- Reforms that challenge the status quo
- Altruism, humanitarian perspective
- Astrology …all things alternative & ‘New Age’
- Electrical sensitivity
However, the Aquarian shadow is also being constellated [and is already visible], and may play out as
- Urge to rebel for its own sake / destructive anarchism
- Fanaticism
- Online crime and bullying / trolling
- Cyber attacks on governments and organizations
- Desire for freedom with no limits /consequences
- Addiction to change / technology / our devices
- Faster pace of life that can lead to an explosion of overwhelm / anxiety
- Dark Web
- Disconnection from the body and the material world and retreat into a virtual reality
The Aquarian challenge is to maintain our vision of truth and social justice while avoiding losing sight of the value of existing social structures and not ignoring the needs of individuals.
