June begins with only Pluto retrograde, but Saturn joins him on June 18. Note: All the dates below are for Australian Eastern Time.
June 4: Full Moon in Sagittarius
June 5: Venus to Leo
June 11: Pluto retrogrades back into Capricorn
June 11: Mercury to Gemini
June 18: New Moon in Gemini
June 22: Solstice: Sun to Cancer
June 27: Mercury to Cancer
Jupiter Joins Uranus in Taurus On May 17 Jupiter made its annual change of sign and entered Taurus, where it will stay for the next year. This will highlight the area of your chart where Taurus is found and activate any planets & points in Taurus.
Jupiter’s transit through Taurus will highlight – and magnify – all things Taurean and intensify the transit of Uranus through this sign: 2018 to 2026. On April 21 next year it will catch up with Uranus and mark the beginning of a new Jupiter Uranus Cycle.
As Jupiter represents the Principle of Growth and Expansion, this can play out productively or excessively. Too much growth too quickly is inflationary – as we are seeing – so there may be some Taurean bubbles bursting over next year.
This may be a time where Jupiter will act as a trigger for the change Uranus is calling for in all things Taurean. Collectively this may emphasize the following:
Our relationship with Mother Earth
Farming practices
Food supplies
Natural resources …mining
Building & Construction
Banking, Money, Wealth
Financial Systems, Economies & Tax
…and our VALUES, as nations, communities and individuals!!!
In Australia’s chart our unaspected Moon falls at close to 20 Taurus so Uranus will conjunct this point around June 5, November 29 and March 24 2024 while Jupiter looks to reach our Moon around April 14 next year, just before the Jupiter Uranus conjunction on April 29. This suggests all the above may be very personal for Australia and there may be a major shift in opinion that happens around this time as the Moon symbolizes the population of a nation. As this time frame coincides with the referendum regards The Voice it will be interesting to see if Australia’s can see value in The Voice or stick to a conservative Taurean perspective.
Some ways that this is playing out, and may reach crisis points in the collective over the next year include:
New Conservatism: rise of the radical right/conservatism
Earth changes …Global Warming
Changes in how resources are managed …carbon emissions and food supplies
Border changes / shutdowns / conflict over territory
Hopefully Jupiter’s transit will lead to shifts that can be constructive for our beloved Mother Earth and all Her children …a wake-up call that time is running out.
Personally, this transit invites us to become conscious of our values and take more care of all the sources of our material security, including our bodies, our finances and our homes. It does feel like an invitation to spend more time in nature, literally finding ways to ground ourselves. Going for walks, gardening, getting out of the city, taking care of our bodies and a healthy diet and exercise may all be part of this mix.
The shadow side of Taurus that we need to be aware of may involve:
Fear that leads us to be resistant to change that can result in stagnation.
The need to accumulate that may lead to hoarding.
Difficulty sharing.
Becoming enslaved by the senses – particularly by greed & lust.
The need for control.
Remember that Uranus is asking for change in areas that we may be fear change as both transits are happening in the areas of our chart where Taurus is located. Both Uranus and Jupiter can be impulsive and reactive so it may be worthwhile to really focus on any houses and planets involved: the house [s] where Taurus is found and any planets in fixed signs.
The Full Moon in Sagittarius on June 4 …falls at close to 13 Sagittarius and will form a mutable T-square with the Sun in Gemini and Saturn in Pisces, as well as a fire grand trine with Chiron in Aries and Mars and Black Moon Lilith in Leo. Those of you with points close to 13 degrees of mutable signs – Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces – will feel this more strongly and as Saturn is only at 7 degrees of Pisces, mutable planets around these degrees will also be activated.
With Saturn squaring both the Sun and Moon and sitting at the apex of a T-square configuration, we may find the Inner Critic becomes active and leads to a sense of flatness, especially if you have planets around the degrees mentioned. Saturn often tests us and challenges us to take responsibility for whatever is causing concern. His presence may be a call for us to take action, even though we would rather not. What can we do to reclaim our authority if this is the case …and what may we have been avoiding? The Fire Grand Trine with Chiron in Aries and Mars in Leo suggests courage and possible healing if we can work productively with Saturn.
The Full Moon in Sagittarius each year highlights the Search for Meaning. Hence this full moon highlights our beliefs system, and it may be an opportune time to reflect on our beliefs and on how well we are ‘walking our talk’. It challenges us to see the bigger picture in our lives and expand our awareness and sense of what is possible for ourselves and humanity.
The New Moon on June 18 …falls at close to 27 Gemini and forms the apex of a very tight T-square with Neptune in Pisces and Ceres in Virgo. Planets and points close to 27 and 28 degrees of mutable signs – Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces – will feel this most strongly.
Neptune square the Sun and Moon – here and in the Solstice chart of June 22 - invites us to allow our feelings and dreams to offer us guidance while requiring us to navigate Neptune’s shadow: confusion, denial, self-delusion, and escape into old addictive patterns that offer the illusion of an escape from anxiety. At the soul level Neptune asks us to let go our judgements and dualistic / adversarial thinking and surrender to Divine Love …or at least start to imagine what this may mean.
It is important to be aware that this energy can also be highly creative if we can own our confusion and allow the fog to lift in its own time. Neptune always challenges us to surrender to feeling and not act until something ‘feels right’: in other words, we are challenged to listen to our intuition. If you are experiencing confusion and can allow yourself not to ‘know’ the answer immediately and reframe anxiety as part of the creative process, then the outcome may be more constructive and illuminating.
Each year the Gemini New Moon suggests a busy time when our curiosity may be stimulated. It can create a more sociable and extroverted atmosphere where we may feel inclined to explore something new or just break out of our routine. The Gemini New Moon also highlights our thinking and communicating and can illuminate outmoded patterns that are ripe for change.
The Winter Solstice: June 22 [0.57am Australian Eastern Standard Time]
This Solstice sees the reborn Sun square to Neptune [as it was last year], following a few days after the New Moon in late Gemini. You may like to re-read the information on Neptune square the New Moon to gain a feel for this energy.
The Winter Solstice [in the Southern Hemisphere] or Cancer Ingress of the Sun marks the time of the longest nights and shortest days when the Sun is reborn from the darkness. The times of sunrise and sunset appear to stand still for two weeks before and after the peak time of June 22, and then the hours of day light begin to slowly lengthen. The Winter Solstice therefore symbolizes the rebirth of the solar principle as well as the light and the divine spark within us all. It marks the beginning of a new solar cycle and is time for those of us who live in the Southern Hemisphere to create our New Year Resolutions and reflect on what we want to achieve.
Astrologically the Solstice marks the moment of the Cancer Ingress; this is the moment when the Sun is overhead at the Tropic of Cancer and moves into the sign of Cancer. The four ingress charts [the solstices and equinoxes] mark the turning points in the seasonal cycle and the annual solar cycle. As such they are given added weight in astrology and are considered to influence the next quarter, or 3 months.
A Simple Solstice Ritual [reprint]
The most traditional way to celebrate the Solstice is to rise early on the day of June 22 to observe and honour the sunrise. Ideally you will find a place where you can observe the horizon, free of buildings and welcome the Sun as He appears. Allow yourself to be filled with wonder and gratitude for His rebirth. As the Sun gains strength and power, feel yourself being blessed with His light and vitality and invoke the blessing of the Divine Masculine for the year ahead.
A special Solstice meal is another wonderful way to honour this energy. This is the time for roast dinners and a roaring fire where a special Yule log was burned to honour the Sun and bring his warmth and radiance into the home. If you don’t have a fire, then light gold candle to honour the Sun and invite his blessings into your life and home.
A more intimate ritual could also be called for… Create a sacred space with candles, incense, meditation and intention. Tune into your inner guidance to find the seeds of new potentials that are stirring within your inner darkness. When you are ready, record the seeds in red or gold ink [as long as they do not seek to influence or harm any other individual] and then burn them in your fire or from your candle. As the paper burns, see your seeds flowering and your potentials manifesting as the fays grow longer and the Sun grows stronger. Give thanks and light your candle whenever you need to refresh your visions and intentions. Blessed Be!
