February looks like a time to move forward and honour the shifts that have taken place during the retrograde cycles of both Venus [our values] and Mercury [our thinking] …
Venus Station Direct
Venus stationed direct on January 29 at close to 11 Capricorn but remains in the retrograde loop or shadow as She recovers the degrees of the zodiac that were part of Her retrograde journey: 11 to 26 Capricorn.
During Her retrograde phase – December 19 to January 29 - Venus has been inviting us to become more conscious of our values and ‘think’ with our hearts as well as our heads: to align our values [Venus and the heart] with our core self [Sun, identity, purpose, and ego].
The time after Venus moves direct and re-covers the degrees of the zodiac that She has moved backwards over – January 29 to March 2 – is the time to start to move forward and honour the insights of the retrograde phase.
Mercury station direct: February 4
Mercury stations direct on February 4 at close to 24 Capricorn and remains in the retrograde loop until February 24 as He recovers the degrees that were part of His retrograde journey: 24 Capricorn to 10 Aquarius. As Mercury recovers these crucial degrees – 24 Capricorn to 10 Aquarius – it is an opportune time to act on insights gained during the retrograde phase …but give Mercury a bit of time to gain some forward momentum.
The new Synodic Cycle of Mercury began on January 23 at the Inferior Conjunction of the Sun and Mercury at 3 degrees of Aquarius and was in a wide conjunction to Pluto and square to Uranus. Mercury will conjunct Pluto for the third and final time in this cycle around February 11 and square Uranus, around February 25. Beware of the power of your words to heal and hurt all month, but particularly around the 11th and the potential to speak impulsively in a way you may later regret around the 25th.
On a personal level we are all called to review what authenticity means for us and stand in our truth but do so in a way that is neither reactive [Uranus] or destructive and vengeful [Pluto].
Remember, Mercury retrograde always provides us with the opportunity to free our thinking from habitual ruts and develop a more conscious set of mental attitudes and beliefs.
New Moon on February 1 at 12 Aquarius: Chinese New Year: Year of the Tiger
February 1 marks Chinese New Year and this year is the Year of the Tiger. Traditionally time to honour the ancestors, let go the past year and give thanks for safe passage to this time of new beginnings as well as ask for blessings for the year ahead. For those of you who have not set your intentions for the 2022, this New Moon can provide another opportunity to clear your clutter – physically, emotionally and mentally – and reflect on what you need to embrace to move forward in your life.
The New Moon in Aquarius emphasizes the Aquarian archetype; it invites us to take a more detached perspective on our lives and to reflect on our:
The constructive Aquarian archetype suggests an ability to be open to change along with an altruistic / humanitarian perspective that embraces alternative viewpoints and perspectives. The shadow of Aquarius can be rigid in its thinking, contrary, polarizing and demanding freedom to act with disregard for the rights of others. The urge to take polarized positions can manifest as the saboteur, outwardly and inwardly. This can lead to feelings of being rejection and marginalization.
The New Moon taps into the key configuration for 2021 / 2022: the Saturn square to Uranus – as it is conjunct Saturn and square to Uranus. On a personal level this symbolizes an inner conflict between the need to conform and act responsibly [Saturn conjunct the Sun] with the desire to break out, break free and individuate [Uranus square both the Sun and Moon]. Owning this energy could mean taking responsibility for our situation, being willing to make changes to outmoded structures and seeking to become more authentic without falling into the shadow of acting out / running away [Uranus] or blame /judgement /depression [Saturn].
