Jupiter and Neptune figure prominently in the three key charts for this month: the Full Moon chart for June 14, the Solstice chart June 21 and the New Moon on June 29.
The morning sky continues it brilliant display in the few hours before sunrise. Look to the east [and slightly to the north in the Southern hemisphere any time after about 4 am until about 6.45 [or sunrise] and you can still see Venus in all Her glory as the Morning Star. She is the brightest body in the sky at the moment after the Moon.
Looking more to the north and overhead you will see Mars and Jupiter closely aligned, especially for the first few weeks of the month: Mars is the one that glows reddish
June begins with both Pluto and Mercury retrograde with Saturn joining them early in the month and Neptune later. Note: All the dates below are for Australian Eastern Standard Time.
May 30: New Moon at 9 Gemini
June 3: Mercury stations direct
June 5: Saturn stations retrograde
June 14: Full Moon in Sagittarius
June 14: Mercury to Gemini
June 21: Sun to Cancer: Winter Solstice [Southern Hemisphere]
June 23: Venus to Gemini
June 28: Neptune stations retrograde
June 29: New Moon in Cancer
The Australian Election Both the Solar and Lunar eclipses of last month activated Australia’s horoscope as well as the charts of Scott Morrison and Anthony Albanese, bringing the change that was suggested. I imagine that by the time Mercury stations direct – June 3 – the results of most seats and the composition of the Senate should be clearer. It seems that the May lunar eclipse’s activation of the Moon in Australia’s chart [and the Moon of both leaders] lead to a shift in the collective mood [the Moon], especially among women, and a change in circumstances for both leaders. The Moon is an indicator of the general population as well as women and the collective feeling was that it was time for change, especially among women.
Mercury Retrograde Update: Mercury leaves the Retrograde Loop on June 19. Mercury stationed retrograde on May 10 at close to 5 degrees of Gemini - the sign of its rulership - and remains retrograde until June 3 when it turns direct at close to 26 degrees of Taurus.
Remember: the most chaotic times are when Mercury stations – the few days around May 10 and June 3 when Mercury adjusts to the change of direction. The time after June 3 and up to June 19 is traditionally the time when we may feel called to take action on any insights that the retrograde phase provided,
Hopefully Mercury’s retrograde phase provided you with the opportunity to free your thinking from habitual ruts and develop a more conscious set of mental attitudes and beliefs, especially in the areas of your life symbolized by where 26 Taurus to 5 Gemini is found on your horoscope.
The June 14 Full Moon falls at 23 Sagittarius 25 …is the second of four full Moon Super Moons this year which take place on May 16 Lunar Eclipse, June 14, and July 14 and August 12. Lunar types will be quite sensitive to the powerful energy and would benefit from a little quiet time around these lunations as all senses will be heightened.
This full Moon becomes a T-square with Neptune in Pisces at the apex. Neptune is making a powerful statement this month [especially around the middle of the month] as it squares both the full moon and the Sun in the Solstice chart on June 21.
The Full Moon in Sagittarius highlights the Sagittarian quest: f the Search for Meaning. Hence this full moon invites us to step back and reflect on our beliefs and perhaps on how well we are ‘walking our talk’. It challenges us to see the bigger picture in our lives and expand our awareness and sense of what is possible for ourselves and humanity. ] Neptune square the Sun and Moon challenges us to allow our feelings and dreams to offer us guidance while avoiding Neptune’s shadow: confusion, denial, self-delusion, and escape into old addictive patterns that offer the illusion of an escape from anxiety. At the soul level Neptune asks us to let go our judgements and dualistic / adversarial thinking and surrender to Divine Love …or at least start to imagine what this may mean.
The June 29 New Moon fall at 7 Cancer 23 …and forms a tight square to Jupiter and a wider square to Chiron. Cancer New Moons always evoke strong emotional currents and invite us to reflect on family, the past and our emotional connections and bonds as it stimulates the Cancer archetype and all things ruled by this watery and emotional sign. This is a potent time to meditate on what nurtures us and how well we are meeting our needs for connection and belonging. We may feel called to do some ‘nesting’ and explore new ways of feeling safe, nurtured and contained
Chiron in a wide square to the New Moon may symbolize the re-emergence of old emotional and familial wounds that are ripe for healing and the very tight square from Jupiter may intensify any emotional state we find our selves experiencing.
The Winter Solstice: June 21 [AEST]
The Winter Solstice [in the Southern Hemisphere] or Cancer Ingress of the Sun marks the time of the longest nights and shortest days when the Sun is reborn from the darkness. The times of sunrise and sunset appear to stand still for two weeks before and after the peak time of June 21, and then the hours of day light begin to slowly lengthen. The Winter Solstice therefore symbolizes the rebirth of the solar principle as well as the light and the divine spark within us all. It marks the beginning of a new solar cycle and is time for those of us who live in the Southern Hemisphere to create our New Year Resolutions and reflect on what we want to achieve.
The Solstice marks the moment of the Cancer Ingress, the moment when the Sun is overhead at the Tropic of Cancer and moves into the sign of Cancer. The four ingress charts [the solstices and equinoxes] mark the turning points in the seasonal cycle and the annual solar cycle. As such they are given added weight in astrology and are considered to influence the next quarter, or 3 months.
This Solstice sees the reborn Sun square to Jupiter and Neptune, a visionary combination highlighting our beliefs and dreams. We may feel inspired and ready for new growth but need to beware of the shadows of both planets - excess and delusion – but if we can ground our visions and maintain our faith, magic may happen.
