April begins with all the major planets moving direct but Pluto stations retrograde on May 3 local time.
May 1: Mars to Aries
May 3: Pluto stations retrograde
May 8: New Moon at 18 Taurus
May 16: Mercury to Taurus
May 23: Full Moon at close to 3 Sagittarius
May 24: Venus to Gemini
May 24 Jupiter sextile Neptune
May 26: Jupiter to Gemini
Jupiter makes its annual change of sign on May 26 to Gemini where it will stay for the next year.
Jupiter’s transit through Gemini will highlight – and magnify – all things associated with the sign. As Jupiter represents the Principle of Growth and Expansion, this can play out productively or excessively. Too much growth too quickly is inflationary – as we are seeing as Jupiter completes its transit of Taurus which is associated with the economy.
The Gemini archetype is quite different to conservative and earthy Taurus; it is very curious, social and open-minded, so the collective energy may shift to accommodate this. This transit will highlight the areas of your chart where Gemini is found and activate any planets & points in found there.
Gemini is also connected with siblings, peer relationships and local community involvement. Many of us may feel more pulled towards exploring what community means for us and look for new ways to find it.
Collectively this may shift emphasis to other Gemini concerns such as education & schooling, media & communications, trade & commerce as well as transport. Gemini is quite at hope with the digital world so will see things changing here too.
New Moon at 18 Taurus on May 8
This New Moon continues to activate the themes relating to the transit of Uranus in Taurus as Uranus, the Great Awakener and Principle of Change, is conjunct the NEW Moon. This continues the challenge to reflect on how we deal with [and think about] all things Taurean and asks us to be open to exploring new ways of experiencing the Taurean realm. Taurus values stability and tends to conservatism so the two energies are not very compatible.
The New Moon may act as a catalyst for transits of Uranus, indicating a suggest a shift in values, personally and collectively. This will be felt more by people with planets close to the New Moon which is conjunct Uranus - planets around 18 to to 23 degrees of fixed signs - Taurus, Scorpio, Leo and Aquarius who will all be having Uranus aspecting that point.
Uranus is a very powerful energy and is one of the the transpersonal planets which serves our soul. He often coincides with a time of change and or disruption in our lives. Whenever He is activating our charts He is challenging us to look at that area of our life and respond differently to the situation. I always think of the quote from Howard Saportas who suggested that we meet Uranus through choice or coercion. If we resist change then it may be forced on us through disruptive events that challenge us to not react but to find a news way to respond to them, internally as well as externally. If there are disruptive events – sometimes Uranus can activate anxiety – take a few deep breaths and reflect on whether there is another way to approach the situation. If you feel like acting out / running away also take a few deep breaths to pause and think through if this is going to help things as the shadow Uranus can activate the saboteur archetype.
Full Moon at close to 3 Sagittarius on May 23
The Full Moon falls at close to 3 degrees of Sagittarius, emphasizing the Gemini / Sagittarius polarity, and highlighting issues around communication, speaking our truth, sibling relationships, learning, understanding how our mind works and highlighting our beliefs systems. The Sagittarian quest is the Search for Meaning, hence this full moon invites us to step back and see the bigger picture in our lives and expand our awareness and sense of what is possible for ourselves and humanity.
The full moon is opposite Venus and Jupiter – the two benefic planets – so people with planets around the end of fixed signs and early in the mutable signs may experience renewed optimism. The aspect is an opposition so it is possible we can over commit ourselves …so beware of your limits and try to not over commit yourself to over react.
